Assalamualaikum and hye,
As I wrote the notes for my upcoming examination which will be in three more days, I couldn't help but to ponder about the terrorist attack in Paris, the city of light. Guess I have to spill it here instead before everything got tangled up.
Well, it came as a surprise as it came flooding my news feed, with all those people started to change their profile picture as a way to show sympathy towards the people in Paris which experienced pain due to the loss of their loved ones.
However, it pained me more as several Islamic facebook pages said something like this:
"Why only mourn for Paris? The people in Gaza is killed everyday and even more than Paris"
"Attack in Paris - everyone change their DP. Attack on Gaza/Syria/Iraq - nobody says anything"
You know what facebook pages? My goodness I really wanted to use some curses/bad words towards you guys but yeah, since the teaching of Islam said be patient, I just going to breathe in and breathe out for a few times.
The thing is, why so negative?
Yes, everyday is the loss of the Palestinians. But today is the loss of the Parisians. So is it wrong, to show sadness for Paris like we show sadness for the Palestinians? Is it wrong, to feel the pain of losing the ones we love inflicted on the Parisians like feeling the pain of the ones we love that is also felt by the Palestinians? Most of all, is it wrong to show sympathy to Paris like we show sympathy to Gaza?
Please, you shouldn't say it like that. Is it too hard to write something like this:
"We, who mourned the loss of our brothers and sisters in Gaza/Syria/Iraq, could also experience the pain that the Parisians feel right now. Like we condemn the attack on the country of Palestine, we also condemn the the bombing attack on Paris. We hope that everything will be recovered back to normal as soon as possible. Our heart and understanding goes to you,"
Or
"I would like to insist that the bombing attack in Paris got nothing to do with Islam at all. Eventhough it was done by the ISIS, the teaching of Islam NEVER allowed the killings of innocent people and terrorism. So the terrorist organization, ISIS, got nothing to do with Islam as its contradict with what our Prophet Muhammad p.b.u.h told us before. Terrorism got no religion. And we condemn terrorism as a whole,"
Is it too hard? Because if you can't remember, during the massive attack on Gaza, the whole world also mourned with us. Why? Because it is the act of humanitarian. So why can't we muslim also mourned with them? At least as the act of humanitarian?
Mourning with Paris isn't make us any less in remembering our Muslim brothers and sisters. In fact, I think it makes us remember them more as terrorism can inflict pain to anyone, and we would not like them to happen to anyone of any race or religion.
If you guys said something insensitive like that, until the end of the world Islam will be depicted as the religion of terrorism. Then don't ask why the attack on Palestine or the killing of Sunni in Syria don't stop.
